Millie is pursuing a Biblical Counseling degree from the College at Southeastern and plans to graduate this December. She chose to pursue biblical counseling because it offers gospel-centered insight and care to those who are facing life’s many struggles. Recently she has felt called to counsel in the church because it offers a deeper level of discipleship for the church body and provides a community of care where brokenness is acknowledged, and redemption is sought out.
The purpose of this ministry is to offer gospel-centered care and guidance to our church body. The goal is to help individuals find hope and direction by applying biblical principles to their lives which enables them to pursue God’s redemptive plan for their struggles while finding purpose and identity in Him.
Currently, Millie is required to intern as a counselor at Woodland Baptist Church as she completes her biblical counseling degree through Southeastern. Because of this, any paperwork that counselees may fill out will come from the counseling ministry at Woodland Baptist. As stated in the counseling waiver, all sessions and conversations will be kept confidential.
As we launch this new ministry, Millie will be focused on offering these services to teens, children, and women. To ensure a healthy and trusting counseling environment, the first session with children and teenagers must include a parent or a guardian. For sessions following the first, parental presence is optional. However, for all sessions with teenage boys, a parent or guardian must be present throughout the entire session.
